Oh Milano.

MaxMara

Bottega Venetta

This was without a doubt one of my favourite shows from Milan so far. The collection was bursting with 1940's influences, that had been turned into modern pieces through colour, cut and ahem rather amazing accessories. It was sharp, powerful and had an incredibly strong presence. Being a huge fan of dresses, i was looking closely at these ones. The ones above are a few of my favourites - particularly the purple chiffon dress with puffed sleeves and a belted waist. Gorgeous.

Etro
I think the strong military and oriental influences are pretty obvious in this collection. It immediately jumps out at you. A very beautiful collection, but not my favourite from Milan.

Giorgio Armani
Another day in Milan, another collection for Giorgio Armani. His 'grown up' collection was presented yesterday and was Armani at his best. Doing what he always does - with a slight futuristic element - black velvet, pink embellished dresses, city shorts, and silk blouses...not to mention pink fur coats, which im mentally blocking out. Other than those fur coats, i thought the collection was chic and current.

Gucci
My oh my Gucci's all grown up! I almost took a second look to make sure this was the right collection, if it wasnt for the short dresses and knee high boots i probably would have. The clothes were muted down with pastel shades of cream, blue, grey, and white, but did not lose that signature Gucci style thanks to accessories and cut. It was nice to see Frida Gianni try something new after a few collections with lots of sparkle and colour. It was a nice change.

Marni

Pucci

Moschino
I have to say, i was really disappointing with this collection. As much as it pains me to say it, it just wasn't at all what i expected. The labels cheap & chic line was far better in terms of theme and design...some of the clothes were bordering on tacky.

Missoni
Missoni - the undisputed masters of knitwear. Again their collection was full of colour, texture, pattern and cut.

Versus - Christopher Kane 4 Versace
Call me bias, because well, one i love Christopher Kane and two am a sucker for 50s inspired babydoll dresses. But i really thought this collection was great -what Kane did here was transfer the Versace aesthetic and utilize it into creating a collection for the younger woman. Also, i am lusting after those shoes...

Roberto Cavalli

Admittedly, i have never been a huge fan of Roberto Cavalli...purely because his designs were never my style, also that and seeing Victoria Beckham wear his clothes generally put me off. But that was when i was younger and my appreciation for fashion was not as established as it is now. Whilst i still believe that his earlier stuff was very 'WAGish' and just a little too much, i have come to realised that Cavalli is capable of a lot more. Over the past few seasons his collections have surprised me a lot. I really liked last season, and love this one even more. Whilst there being an overall Spanish military influences, there was a real romantic, hippy feel this time around, with flowing maxi dresses in pastel blue shades, harem pants and faded animal prints.
