Oh so retro.

I sort of need this dress...a lot. A single piece of retro lovliness.
Yes please.

Hollywood's Golden Age.

Audrey Hepburn
Grace Kelly
Rita Hayworth
Marilyn Monroe
Elizabeth Taylor
Jackie Kennedy
Six undoubedtly beautiful, incredibly stylish women from Hollywood's yesteryear. If only everyone still dressed that way today. Time machine please?
But alteast designers are getting back on board with retro glamour again this season, thank goodness. I think a certain TV show may have had something to do with that...
Elizabeth Moss as 'Peggy Olsen'
January Jones as 'Betty Draper'
Christina Hendricks as 'Joan Holloway'

V Festival 2010.

I attended V Festival this weekend in Chelmsford for two days of unmissable music. The incredible atmosphere and amazing performances by Florence & the Machine (i love her), Paloma Faith, Kasabian, The Kooks, Ellie Goulding and soo much more made the blisters, sore neck and questionable sun burn so worth it.
Amongst the insane crowd - in their thousands- were a few celebrities who have been working the festival circuit all summer long. The likes of Alexa Chung, Florence Welch and Drew Barrymore were to be spotted somewhere around...i however did not see any of them *sigh*. Known  for their cool festival styles, here are a few of my favourites from the weekend.

Cosmic Love.

I may be slightly obsessed with this song. Oh and absolutley everything Florence wears in this video.

Alexander McQueen, Resort 2011.

If anyone was going to take over from the late Alexander McQueen, there was know one more suited for the job than his right hand (wo)man Sarah Burton. Showcasing her first for the label - the first without McQueen- Burton managed to keep the essence of Lee's vision throughout the collection, despite the blatant lack of his deep rooted edge that only he could construe. Everything was lighter this time around, it all seemed to have been lifted, but still Burton managed to bring that drama that is tied to McQueen's work. The dark romance was sustained through beautiful brocade, the deepest of silks and the most intricate lace.
Whilst the tragedy of McQueen no longer being with us is still raw to the fashion world, its nice to see how his  (for the lack of a better word) 'legacy' has been protect so well by the woman who quite clearly respected his work the most.

Happy 30th Birthday i-D.

 An oldie but goodie
May Contain: frank interviews with the one and only Lady Gaga & Naomi Campbell, amazing portraits by the equally amazing Nick Knight - which were shot at his ShowStudio: Fashion Revolution at Somerset house last year- which were accompanied by short (but sweet) articles about each of his subjects (including everyone from Gaga to Coco, the list is endless).
Certainly one to keep for the grandkids...

Autumn/Winter dressing.

I know i know, its still technically summer, but i can't help but get excited for Aumtum/Winter. Which to most will make me seem like an alien or something for being so excited about the cold weather. But, i do have a valid point. This seasons fall collections have been of a great standard, and it didnt take long for the high street to start picking up on the trends.
I already have my eye on a super cute pea coat from Topshop - which has a very sixties mod style, an old school satchel for uni, similar to this one below by urban outfitters (I'll be on the hunt for a -cheaper- vintage one) and a very cosy jumper to keep me warm.
Here is my Autumn/Winter wish list:

Topshop Coat £85
Topshop jumper £38
Urban Outfitters £48
Urban Outfitters £65 now £45
Topshop pumps £28
Topshop swallow necklace £6.50
Topshop lace dress £40
Topshop peter pan blouse £35

I already have the lace dress, boots and the swallow necklace. Three down, five more to go...

And finally, there is my Dream List...also known as a collection of clothing i will never be able to own. Not yet anyway, but one day perhaps...
