More Couture.

Valentino.
Valentino went all cutesy yesterday with baby doll dresses, soft pastel colours, lace and bows. Delightful. But of course, not to make it seem too sweet, there were slightly harder details to maintain a balance, with a real sense of entrapment being portrayed...literally. One model glided down the catwalk wearing a cage dress, allowing people to make their own assumptions about the meaning of the collection.
I thought it was a nice, light collection with beautiful details. Would have liked to have seen a bit more red though.

Elie Saab.
Elie Saab, i love you even more every season. I repeat the same thing every season with this man, believing that he will never be able to top his last collection, and yet he does...bigger and better. Inspired by La Fenice - Venice's opera house - gowns flowed down the catwalk, beginning with fire, rustic reds and ending with softer blues and golds. The attention to detail was absolute perfection, the stunning embellishment glistened from the dresses and the draping offered drama and empowerment. It was all incredibly rich looking, with heavy fabrics of silk tulle, bands of chiffon and lace- luxury was key here. Perfection.

Jean Paul Gaultier.

Jean Paul Gaultier took a different approach to his couture collection this season. Gone were the themed thrills we are used too - last year it was all about Mexico, and previous years its been old Hollywood glamour. To be honest, im not quite sure what to say. I did like the collection (it got a lot better at the end) but i do like it when he gives us strong themes and surprises. But being the french-est of the french, the Parisian designer rediscovered his french routes with this ultimately incredibly glamorous collection - with Dita Von Teese's help...naturally.

Chanel Couture Fall 2010.

Chanel.

I have to say, this is probably my favourite Couture collection this year so far. Unlike his spring couture collection, Lagerfeld this time explored luxurious, thick, sensuous fabrics, dark. moody shades of blue, gold, camel and the deepest of reds. The beautiful embellishment, volume of fabric, tapestry and the slight military influence add another dimension to the clothes - not to mention the models wearing them, who included Abby Lee Kershaw and a Lagerfeld favourite, Freja Beha Erichsen
It's a complete stand out collection with a strong presence amongst the collections this week. J'adore.

A giant gold lion was present amongst the models on the catwalk, which Lagerfeld said was a tribute to Coco Chanel herself, whose sign was Leo.
