Ballgowns at the V&A

I visited the V&A's new 'Ballgowns: British glamour since 1950 today' and was really impressed. The v&a is quite possibly my favourite museum, and they always put on such great exhibitions, so I knew this one would be nothing less than excellent. It begins with a plethora of beautiful gowns, from the 1950s  - think Norman Hartnell, Hardy Aimes and Charles Worth - right up to the 1990s. There are a sprinkling of royal dresses here and there worn by the Queen Mother, Princess Diana and Princess Anne. Then as you meander up the steps, to the second floor, you are greeted by a modern day selection of amazing dresses from Alexander McQueen, Erdem, Mary Katrantzou and John Galliano. I thought it was great that they had such a mixture of eras and were celebrating the old and the new. I would strongly recommend a visit if you're ever in London. 

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee is only a week away now - and the whole of London has gone Jubilee mad, including me. I am terribly excited for the festivities to begin, and enjoyed revelling in all things jubilee inspired today. The Harrods window displays were particularly impressive - they had crowns created by different designers in each window, and it was great to see the different interpretations. My favourites were those designed by Paul Smith, Mulberry and Valentino. My images aren't so great - they were taken on my iPhone, but you get the idea! They also had a display of exquisite ballgowns to coincide with the V&A exhibition, designed by the likes of Valentino, Carolina Herrera and Jenny Packham. Other great window displays come courtesy of Harvey Nichols and Selfridges - definitely worth a look!
