R.I.P Alexander McQueen.

The news today that - the legend - Lee McQueen has died has left the entire fashion world in shock and i am deeply saddened by the news. It's such an unbelievable loss. He was - without a doubt - the most talented, innovative and creative British designer of our time. In fact, to say he was amazing would be an understatement. There are just no words to describe how incredible and influential he was to the fashion industry. Other designers looked to him for inspiration, and newer upcoming designers aspired to be like him. For such a tragedy to happen, when he was at the height of his career is terribly sad. My thoughts are with his family.

Happy days.

Live video steaming from fashion shows at LFW? Excellent. Now for those of us who feel inadequate and like we are missing out can join in on the action. Of course nothing beats being there, but until that day comes (i live in hope) this will do for now.

Alssso, New York Fashion Week kicks of this week, and Rodarte and Alexander Wang have both been confirmed as appearing on Nick Knights showstudio.com. Yipeeeee!

My oh my. Vogue delights.

I do love the March issues and ive been stocking up on Elle, Elle collections and Vogue this week. Cannot wait to purchase LOVE on monday.

This months Vogue sees Alexa Chung grace the front cover. Gosh that girls got style, id raid her wardrobe in a minute! Something i was not expecting from Vogue was an article on poo...yes you heard me right, an article on poo being the last taboo. I have to say it was entertaining as hell, and kinda true. The best part of the whole thing though was the fashion feature 'China White' photographed by Tim Walker, whose work i absolutely adore. Each picture is like a little piece of heaven.

 

 

 

Love for Lula.

Just because im getting into my uni research. I came across this issue of Lula, which has some of the most heavenly features in it. This particular issue (9) edited by model Karen Elson is one of my favourites.

As my obsession with these magazines continue, i feel the need to point out that LOVE issue 3 is out on the 8th and cannot tell you how impatient i have been waiting for it to be released. Like a child at Christmas...thats me.

Photographer passions.

Sooo we started a new semester with a new assigment. Imaging. I have to say im incredibly excited about this project, mostly becuase we will be learning about the most amaxing fashion photographers past and present - and well there are a lot! and a lot i admire too. So in aid of this, here are a few of my ultimate favourites. You may come to realise i have a thing of black & white images...

Tim Walker: His fantastical images are like being taken into a fairytale...and well i love fairytales.

And here are a few i have been introduced to recently...

Norman Parkinson. I am ashamed to admit that i knew little about him until a month ago, when i visited an exhibition about his work. His work is simply wonderful. What i love so much about them is that they tell a story, they dont seem like posed shots. Theres somethig almost enigmatic about them, which i love. Its up to the viewer to decide.
